Hi, I’m Kat.
For more than 38 years, I’ve had the privilege of teaching martial arts and self-defense to people of all ages and experience levels. During that time, I’ve earned a 4th Degree Black Belt, competed as a National and World Kickboxing Champion, and trained in reality-based self-defense systems.
Over the early years, I discovered something that changed the way I teach.
Many women came to class believing self-defense was about learning to fight.
In reality, the skills that made the biggest difference were rarely physical.
The women who became the most confident weren’t necessarily the strongest or fastest. They were the ones who learned to recognize situations earlier, trust their instincts, communicate clear boundaries, and stay calm when it mattered most.
That realization became the foundation of everything I teach today.
Why I Created this Calm Confidence Method
After decades of teaching, I realized there was a gap.
Traditional martial arts are excellent for building discipline, fitness, and physical skills. But many women simply want practical knowledge they can apply in everyday life.
They want to know:
- How can I recognize a potentially unsafe situation before it escalates?
- How do I set boundaries without feeling rude?
- How can I project confidence instead of uncertainty?
- What should I actually do if something doesn’t feel right?
Those are the questions I wanted to answer for myself as well.
The Calm Confidence Method brings together years of teaching experience into a practical framework focused on awareness, communication, decision-making, and real-world safety.
It’s not about living in fear.
It’s about living with confidence.
I believe self-defense begins long before physical force becomes necessary.
Everyday safety is built through small habits that anyone can learn:
- Becoming more aware of your surroundings.
- Recognizing subtle warning signs.
- Trusting your intuition.
- Setting clear personal boundaries.
- Responding with calm, thoughtful action.
These are skills that help you feel more confident not only in difficult situations, but in everyday life.
My goal isn’t to make you fearful.
My goal is to help you feel prepared.
